The Case of the Missing Monkee
Back Home Up Next

Dr. Marcovitch believes his plan to get Professor Schnitzler out of the country in an ambulance is foolproof, even when Peter shows up looking for the kidnapped scientist. He doesn’t figure in Monkee ingenuity, however, and the guys scare Peter out of Marcovitch-induced amnesia to help them save the day. The audience laughs at Boris and Marcovitch as they try to out-maneuver the Monkees, knowing that their plans will ultimately fail. In the same way, God laughs at those who think they can outsmart and out-maneuver Him because He knows that their efforts will backfire. "The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for He knows their day is coming. The wicked will perish: The LORD’S enemies will be like the beauty of the fields, they will vanish—vanish like smoke." (Psalm 37:12-13, 20).
