Captain Crocodile

Captain Crocodile’s sole source of security is his position as the host of a children’s television show. Since this job can hardly be considered secure, he is constantly stressed over the idea that the network will "ease [him] out" and replace him with someone else (in this case, the Monkees). He thus goes to great lengths to prove the Monkees unworthy successors and eventually secures the termination of his own job.

Many people can relate to the idea of depending on someone or something for security and fulfillment. The problem is that material things, jobs, and people can fail or be taken away. The only true source of security, stability, and strength is God. The book of Psalms is full of references to God’s unfailing love, everlasting faithfulness, and steadfast protection of His children. As a starting place, read Psalms 37, 91, and 139 to learn about our unchanging, faithful Lord. Also keep in mind that "whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for [Christ] will save it" (Matthew 16:25).
