Monkees in a Ghost Town

When asked why his gun never runs out of bullets, Davy replies simply, "Are you kidding? We’re the good guys!" A couple of rounds later, the gun clicks as if empty. With an embarrassed grimace, Davy tosses the gun over the bar; it fires, shooting the gun out of one gangster’s hand. Astonished, the gangsters surrender.

Just because we are Christians, we shouldn’t expect everything to go perfectly every time. In fact, it sometimes seems that just the opposite is true. However, when it appears that we are out of ammunition and surrounded, God always comes through, usually in a way no one could have expected. Daniel’s experience in the lions’ den (Daniel 6) is a classic example; God sent an angel to close the mouths of the lions while His servant Daniel was in the pit, but when his accusers and their families were thrown in, the lions devoured them before they hit the floor (Daniel 6:24). So when hard times come your way, remember the words of Jesus: "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).
